Indigenous Development Traineeship - Land & Sea Management Program

We are looking for a Wik and/or Wik-Waya Land and Sea Officer Trainee to work with the team at Amrun to ‘care for country’ within mining operations.

About the role

  • Conducting land management activities according to an annual plan including prescribed burning, noxious weed surveys and control, feral animal management, turtle surveys and management, and rehabilitation and monitoring activities.
  • Recording and inputting data into electronic systems after internal training.
  • Driving a variety of vehicles (manual, all-terrain, medium rigid) on outer lease areas.
  • Cleaning and maintaining land management equipment.
  • Operating safely and efficiently in remote areas as a part of a team.

About you

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Current Drivers licence
  • Have LAP status approval identifed as a Wik & Wik-Waya Traditional Owner
  • High degree of work ethic and self-motivation
  • Priority driven, self-motivated and has a passion to look after the environment.
  • The ability to successfully complete language, literacy and numeracy testing
  • Provide a compete application kit (resume, drivers licence, LAP Status form and application form)
  • The ability to complete all pre-screening questions
  • The ability to tolerate physically demanding work including 12hr shifts at Amrun, working in adverse weather etc.

In accordance with the Western Cape Communities Co-Existence Agreement (WCCCA), this role is prioritised for Local Aboriginal Persons (LAP) with recognised traditional connection to the Southern operational area (the Traditional Owner groups linked to Amrun are Wik & Wik Waya).
