About the Role
We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from team members who are interested to join our multi skilled and engaging team, the Specialist Indigenous Support will help shape Olympic Dam’s future as a culturally and socially responsible organisation that is respectfully engaged with its indigenous workforce.
The purpose of this role is to support and promote professional development planning, by effectively engaging with leaders and Indigenous employees.
In this role you will:
- Support and promote professional development planning, by effectively engaging with leaders and Indigenous employees;
- Guide and support leaders to implement culturally appropriate initiatives to improve attraction and retention of Indigenous employees;
- Provide culturally appropriate advice to guide business leaders and promote a culturally safe working environment.
- Contribute to the building of cultural competence of line leaders through coaching and mentoring on Indigenous culture and matters that may impact Indigenous employees.
- Engage effectively with Indigenous Employment and Engagement teams of the business to ensure alignment of activities within the IE strategy.
About You
The successful candidate will have a passion and dedication for improving employment outcomes for First Nations peoples.
You will be a strong communicator and have excellent listening skills. You will be comfortable with stakeholder engagement both externally and internally, with a proven track record of strong Indigenous engagement skills and working autonomously and at a high level.
As a successful candidate you will also possess the following:
- Experience leading, mentoring, coaching and providing case management and support to Indigenous employees;
- Demonstrated ability to build strong working relationships with site leaders and networks within the business;
- Knowledge, experience and understanding of Indigenous culture and issues surrounding Indigenous peoples and communities;
- Experience in planning and coordinating structured programs and activities for diverse groups and reporting on outcomes and impact for the business;
- Experience working within the mining industry will be advantageous.
Location
This role is based in Olympic Dam as either 5 day on / 2 days off, 4 days on / 3 days off roster (with flex) FIFO ex-Adelaide or DIDO or residential in Roxby Downs (%/2 roster).
The outstanding facilities at the FIFO village include fully equipped gyms, swimming pool, squash courts, basketball court, and recreation room including a pool table, darts, table tennis, TV and DVD player. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, refrigerator and air-conditioning.
