About this Role 

The Specialist ISL East works alongside Australia-based Global and Asset Function leaders to improve the experience of Indigenous-identified employees in Corporate Offices, while also contributing to enhanced cultural safety and wellbeing across the workplace. 

In this role, you will: 

  • Serve as a key point of contact for Global / Asset Function employees based in Corporate Offices, through the provision of personalised on-the-job support and coaching. 
  • Advocate for change to enhance cultural safety and wellbeing by supporting the Principal ISL East to assist Assets and sites in implementing Indigenous employee support policies and initiatives.   
  • Work with Principal ISL East and Indigenous Engagement team to understand relationship requirements and facilitate engagement with Prescribed Bodies Corporate (PBCs), Traditional Owner corporations and local communities to ensure cultural needs of Indigenous Global and Asset Function employees are met, and support sites to do so.   
  • Access and review Corporate Office metrics, KPIs and HR data for the Indigenous workforce.   
  • Actively contribute to the ISL community of practice across Australia to enable knowledge sharing and collective improvement.  

Qualifications & Skills to be successful in this role: 

  • Experience in engaging with diverse stakeholders including diverse cultures and/or Indigenous peoples. 
  • An understanding of and experience in the mining sector and BHP’s operating environment is recommended but not mandatory. 
  • Relevant vocational, TAFE or University qualifications (e.g. HR/ER, healthcare, community development) are recommended but not mandatory. 
  • Previous experience in a similar role in case management, advocacy, community development or human services is recommended but not mandatory. 

Location

This role can be based in Adelaide or Brisbane on a Monday-Friday basis. Travel to our various sites on occasion may be required.
