About Operations Services

Operations Services is providing permanent employment to a growing team of more than 4000 employees. OS is committed to increase employment opportunities for Australian regional communities by delivering stability and sustainability that is good for our people and good for the communities.

Operation Services (OS) employees work in an environment where safety is central to role and support is always at hand. You will work as part of a smaller team so you can expect to build good connections with your supervisors and peers. OS has a high performing culture and encourages continuous improvement and development. 

About the Role

This program offers a permanent position with Operations Services while you complete your 12 months of training to become a Production Operator. We have partnered with a reputable training organisation and upon successful completion of your training you will receive a Certificate III in Surface Extraction.

From commencement through to completion of your training, you will receive support from trainers, supervisors and colleagues to set you up for success.

If successful, you will start your journey at our Mackay training facility for 3 swings covering a range of topics including our BHP Charter Values and Code of Conduct. From here you will move onto site-based training with qualified in-field trainers.

About you

You don’t need prior on-the-job experience, just a genuine interest in driving and operating machinery. Together we will work to achieve your personal and professional goals.

Ideally, you will have:

  • High commitment to safety, quality and procedure is a must
  • Strong desire to learn and a high level of enthusiasm to develop a range of new skills
  • Motivation to achieve personal work goals and objectives
  • Teamwork mentality to achieve results
  • Minimum of Open C class drivers licence
