Job Tasks and Responsibilities

Moolarben Coal (MCO) has a focus on supporting our workforce through any injuries that may occur to promote a safe and timely return to work. This role provides a key interface between the workforce, treatment provider, insurer and site management team as well as corporate specialists.

Reporting to the Health, Safety and Training Superintendent, this role is responsible for proactively managing injuries and developing return to work plans in consultation with workers, Supervisors and treating doctors. As part of the MCO team you may be the first point of contact with an injured worker following treatment, being committed to the welfare of the person and following up on their progress to return to work.

  • Early identification and ongoing follow up and management of minor injuries to prevent them developing into more serious cases
  • Referral for assessment, initial treatment, ongoing management and follow up of referred cases, including the provision of reports and case management advice to leaders and the health team
  • Provide health coaching, advice and follow up to the workforce
  • Develop, maintain, monitor and review return to work plans for injured employees and contractors
  • Establish and maintain Injury management & return to work files
  • Provide monthly reports on case load, progression, and key issues requiring follow up

Skills and Experience

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team and independently
  • Prior work experience in a Health/Injury management role, preferably in Mining, Construction or Heavy Industry
  • Previous experience dealing with Coal Mines Insurance (Desirable)
  • Valid Driver’s Licence
