About the role

This is a full-time permanent opportunity based out of the IMC office, Port Kembla with regular time spent across our operations in the Illawarra region.

You will effectively manage all aspects of injury management, rehabilitation, and occupational health, while providing IMC’s operations with specialised support and direction.

You will work under the supervision of the Superintendent Health & Hygiene to establish and consistently enhance the IMC’s Injury Management & Health standards, practices, tools, and initiatives.

Key accountabilities –

  • Provide specialist support to operations for effective health management, including the maintenance of the Health Surveillance, Mental Health, Musculoskeletal Disease and Fatigue Management programs.
  • Manage the administration of IMC site pre-employment medical reviews
  • Responsible for coordination and ongoing monitoring of early intervention programs, assessment, and improvement of Health programs
  • Responsible for the timely certification of medical assessments (New starter, periodic, and exiting) and management of the medical record database
  • Responsible for managing the IMC injury management process
  • Regularly monitor injured employee progress to ensure a successful recovery and return to work

About you

To be considered for the role, you will have:

  • Degree qualified in Safety, Hygiene, Allied Health or relevant field
  • Occupational Health & Worker’s Compensation experience:
      • In depth knowledge of health management processes, technologies and relevant industry standards (eg.OSHA)
      • Understanding of Workers Compensation Insurance schemes and Injury Management processes (particularly related to NSW Coal industry)
      • Proven skillset in developing and executing operational practice within Health & Safety
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain sound working relationships (face-to-face and remote)
  • Capable of working with minimal supervision and able to self-manage priorities

Location

This position will be based at the Regional Operations Centre, Port Kembla Coal Terminal in Wollongong, NSW.
