Reporting to the Maintenance Analysis & Improvement Superintendent the main function for the Inspection Engineer role is to ensure that all classified pressure vessels and associated mechanical overpressure protection devices are managed in compliance to the Mines Safety Inspection Regulations, relevant Australian Standards and relevant Worsley operational procedures.
Location
This role will be based at our Worsley Alumina Refinery which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (35 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities.
As there is no accommodation on site, you will be required to drive in, drive out on a daily basis. Employees ideally live within an hour’s drive of Collie.
Accountabilities
• Ensuring all pressure vessel fabrication, modifications and/or repairs comply with appropriate Australian Standards and regulatory requirements.
• Specify the inspection requirement and frequency for the classified plant (pressure vessels and pressure relief valves).
• Develop scopes of work for inspection of classified plant
• Conduct inspections on the classified plant and produce inspection reports based on the findings of those inspections.
• Sign off and manage records of classified equipment as per the site requirements.
• To provide specialist technical advice to the business on classified equipment related issues.
• Being actively involved as a subject matter expert in investigations involving classified equipment.
• Identifying, developing and implementing improvement opportunities for classified equipment.
• Perform Fitness for Service assessments on classified plant to determine if a repair is required prior to the equipment returning to service.
• Monitor inspection and service/ overhaul compliance for pressure relief devices that protect classified pressure vessels.
Qualifications
• Current AICIP or API 510 certification
• Mechanical, maintenance or metallurgical engineering qualification
• Current API 653 certification preferred
About You
• Shall have a minimum of 3 years experience in in-service inspection of pressure equipment, as per requirements AS/NZS 3788-2006.
• Familiar with relevant Australian and /or ASME pressure vessel codes.
• Familiarity with Mines Safety Inspection Regulations is desirable
• Experience in Non-Destructive Testing techniques
• Demonstrated background of risk assessment.
• Experience in developing scopes of engineering for repairs and alterations of pressure equipment.
• Experience in SAP preferred.
• Fluency in all aspects of the English language
