We are looking for a Civil Inspector to play a key role within the Rail division.

The Rio Tinto Iron Ore (RTIO) Rail Network Maintenance Condition Monitoring Team, is responsible for delivering capability; maximising the sustainable business value; and managing the conditions and risks; related to the physical assets of Pilbara Iron across its operations of rail infrastructure in the Pilbara, WA.

The purpose of this role is to inspect structures within the rail corridor including but not limited to culverts, bridges & embankments.

Report on the integrity of the railway civil assets in accordance with safety, reliability, environmental and statutory requirements. You will also develop defect reports, scope of works and assist with the planning of high priority defects.

  • Inspecting the various assets in the network to identify defects within the track structures.
  • Identify and interpret the severity and nature of structural and material defects to ensure the integrity of the network.
  • Prioritising defects within the Rio Tinto asset management systems.
  • Prepare reports on asset condition for the engineering team.
  • Communicate with engineering of any emerging or critical issues to ensure priorities are actioned in accordance with the Rio Tinto work management processes.
  • Developing and maintaining effective networks through collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders, customers and suppliers.
  • Use of condition monitoring tools and equipment.
  • Fostering a culture of zero harm and continuous improvement

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • Proficient Computer Systems and Software Skills
  • Experience on working on a railway network
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and writing
  • Problem solving skills
  • Understanding of HSE management systems.
  • SAP Experience

Desirable or willingness to learn:

  • Bridge and Culvert Inspection Lev 1 and or 2.
  • Experience in civil infrastructure maintenance
  • Knowledge of condition monitoring techniques and equipment
  • Prior experience as a Civils Inspector
  • Cert III in Rail Infrastructure
  • Experience on working on a railway network
  • SAP Experience
