About the Role

This is a residential or FIFO opportunity based at our Port Hedland depot and is being offered on a 8 days on & 6 days off roster.  

Reporting to the Track Inspector Supervisor you will ensure that Maintenance activities are in compliance and consistent with the BHP Track Code of Practice. You will also Inspect/Audit the performance of infrastructure and maintenance outcomes to quality and professional/technical standards. A main component of this role would be to Determine track condition as per the Code of Practice and apply suitable speed restriction. This position will also provide technical advice to support Track Execution personnel and upskill track teams.

You will have collaborative leadership skills and have the ability to positively influence our safety culture.  Your ability to lead by example, be proactive and prioritise Field Leadership activities will be critical to your success.

About You

As our successful candidate, you will have the following skills and experience, as follows:

•    Have a genuine commitment to safety •    Current full West Australian “C” class motor vehicle license or current equivalent Australian State motor vehicle license, in accordance with IO.HR.017 Light Vehicle Use Policy and Guidelines. •    Track Inspection Certification and competency •    Non-destructive testing, is preferred   •    Certificate 3 Rail Infrastructure    •    Hi Rail (LV) competency, is preferred •    Welder ( Flashbutt/ Aluminothermic ) or demonstrated knowledge of welding process, as desirable •    Solid leadership and previous people management skills •    Computer literacy in Microsoft office suite and computerized maintenance management systems •    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong focus on employee engagement •    Demonstrated ability to plan work, allocate resources and monitor progress  •    Attention to detail and complex problem solving ability •    Ability to make the right choice under pressure and during conflict
