Title: Instrumentation Engineer – Green Fleet Development
Work location: Perth based (Hazelmere)
Roster: 5/2 roster
In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet.
Based at our new Hazelmere R&D facility, we are looking for an experienced Instrumentation Engineer to work on a dynamic range of Green Fleet Development projects.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Manage and consolidate all instrumentation used in the Green Fleet development projects (includes process, fire and gas, engine and electrical power instrumentation)
- Develop inspection, calibration and function test schedules for instrumentation including those used in safety systems and hazardous areas
- Assist project teams to specify and select suitable instrumentation (sensors, transmitters etc.)
- Develop and build up a preferred instrumentation database for future projects and product development
- Develop instrumentation calibration and certification capability within FFI Green Fleet or with external third parties
- Manage calibration and inspection records with the workshop instrumentation technicians and electricians
- Work in close conjunction with other engineering disciplines, project teams and workshop teams
Qualifications and skills required:
- Bachelor of Instrumentation/Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics or related field of study
- 3+ years’ experience in Instrumentation field
- Knowledge of Hazardous Area and Functional Safety Standards
- Knowledge of various types of instrumentation and communication protocols (both analog and digital)
- Knowledge of basic control systems and electrical interfaces
- Experience working with hazardous gas/liquid environment (Hydrogen, Ammonia etc.) is highly advantageous
- Experience working with engine or automotive industry is highly advantageous
- Experience working on renewable energy projects highly advantageous,
- Strong conceptual thinking and analytical focus,
- Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and in multidiscipline teams,
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
