Permit Coordinator

Work Location: Iron Bridge Concentrate Handling Facility (CHF) Port Hedland. Fortescue’s Iron Bridge CHF project is located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people.  

Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex Perth

Iron Bridge is Fortescue’s US$2.6 billion project, set to deliver 22mtpa of high grade 67% Fe magnetite concentrate product. The CHF, located in Port Hedland, receives Magnetite via pipeline from the Ironbridge OPF, located 145km by road south of Port Hedland. The mine will deliver an innovative process design and industry-leading energy efficient operation. 

The Permit Coordinator role reports directly to the Operations and Maintenance Superintendent and will be responsible for all isolation, tagging and permit requirements for the concentrate handling facility in either a routine daily or shutdown capacity. This position will be imperative to maintaining the safety of people and equipment in and around the plant.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Demonstrating a strong commitment to health and safety
  • Carry out regular inspections of work areas to ensure correct isolations are in place and are functional
  • Ensure all permits are in place and coherent with the work requirements
  • Design, prepare and implement all permitting and isolation plans for shutdown and daily work
  • Audit all electrical and mechanical isolations to ensure compliance
  • Complete operational churns and facilitate isolation reviews

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Trade qualification or similar
  • Proven experience performing isolations and/or permitting in the Mining Industry in fixed plant
  • Strong attention to detail and good computer skills required
  • Previous experience within a fixed plant environment
  • Ability to work unsupervised and within a fast-paced team environment
  • Previous experience with Intellipermit (or similar electronic permitting) is advantageous
