Security Emergency Response Officer (SERO)

Work Location: Iron Bridge. Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people

Roster: 8D/6R – FIFO ex Perth on Wednesdays

The primary function of the Security Emergency Response Officer role is to perform security duties in and around the Iron Bridge Japal Village. This role is required for ensuring the health and safety of all personnel residing in and/or working at Japal Village. Regular duties include (but are not limited to), patrolling village communal areas such as dining halls, taverns, recreation and administration areas. This role is important for ensuring all visitors, contractors and employees are safe when visiting or working within our fantastic Japal Village and its facilities.

The role may also be required to assist the Emergency Services team in emergency response, training and leave coverage on an 'as required' basis. This may require that night shifts be completed to ensure appropriate emergency capability is maintained.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide a visible presence throughout the village (inclusive of administration and accommodation blocks, common areas and all associated facilities) via foot patrols
  • Respond to calls for assistance including room lockouts, snake sightings, noise complaints, inappropriate behavior, welfare checks, fire, and sewer alarms
  • Enforce village rules and guidelines as required such as smoking, noise curfew, hand hygiene and alcohol consumption
  • Monitor vehicle traffic speeds around camp and village access roads via speed checks
  • Conduct welfare checks
  • Report writing and collection of data
  • Emergency response as required

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum Certificate Il in Security Operations
  • Western Australian "C" Driver's License
  • Previous experience working in security and emergency response within the mining industry (desirable)
  • Certificate III Mine Emergency Response (desirable)
  • Provide Advanced First Aid or higher qualification (desirable)
  • Snake Handling and Relocation (desirable)
