Systems Engineer

Work Location: Iron Bridge. Fortescue’s Iron Bridge project is located on the traditional lands of the Nyamal people.

Roster: 8D/6R

The Systems Engineer, reports to the Senior Systems Engineer and is responsible for the day to day running of the control systems assets, building and developing the strong team culture, and identifying areas for improvement across the control systems assets, wider team and operational management of the process control function.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide critical support to the site Process Control team to troubleshoot and rectify control systems issues
  • Maintain the critical PCS network infrastructure consisting of hardware and software that enables process control, monitoring and communication between users and applications
  • Identify gaps and implement improvement ideas with industry best practice
  • Accountable for control systems hardware and software upgrades
  • Standardisation of control systems hardware and software (hardware model, software version, patch version, firmware version, configuration, etc.) to ensure consistency across site
  • Assist with projects that involve control system and operational technology such as integration of new equipment, systems or software, harden and improve existing process control environment and network security
  • Participate in the investigation for operation delays, RCA or as required by operation and maintenance in the control systems
  • Collaborate with OT to ensure disaster recovery plan compliance and regular review
  • Collaborate with other teams to achieve business goals
  • Contribute and foster excellent culture within the team and other departments

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Tertiary Qualifications in Electrical/Electronic/Mechatronic/Computer Science Engineering
  • 3-5 years of experience in similar roles
  • Current Drivers Licence (C Class)
  • Methodical and thorough fault-finding skills
  • Able to work in highly technical and challenging environment
  • Experience with GE/Emerson Proficy software family (GE Machine Edition/PPS, Cimplicity SCADA, Proficy Historian, Proficy Change Management) (Highly desirable)
  • Experience with software and hardware from other vendors (Allen Bradley, Siemens, PILZ, Kepware, PAS, Atlassian, Genetec) (Desirable)
  • Experience with layer 2 networking, Moxa industrial network switches and MXview (Highly desirable)
  • Experience with Industrial communication protocol (Profinet, Profibus, EGD, Modbus) (Highly desirable)
  • Experience with VSD drives (ABB and Siemens) (Desirable)
  • Experience with RDBMS (MSSQL) and reporting systems (SSRS) (Highly desirable)
  • Experience with data analytics tools (Tableau, Microsoft Power BI, SEEQ) (Desirable)
  • Experience with programming and scripting languages (C#, VB.NET, SQL) (Highly desirable)
  • Experience with Microsoft Server Operating System (Highly desirable)
  • Experience with Microsoft Hyper-V and Active Directory (Highly desirable)
  • Experience with layer 3 networking and firewall (Desirable)
  • Understand good Cybersecurity practices (Desirable)
