About the role
Rio Tinto’s Paraburdoo Plant Shutdown team are seeking an experienced Isolations Co-ordinator to join them on a permanent basis. The roster is day shift only, 8 on:6 off, with the option of residential or FIFO commute to suit the right candidate.
Reporting to the Supervisor Plant Shutdown and working in a collaborative environment within a safety driven team that values inclusion will provide the isolation plans for shutdowns.
You will be responsible for;
- Ensuring permits are prepared and remain compliant with our procedures throughout the permit to work process.
- Confirming that hazards and controls are clearly defined and signed off by authorised personnel.
- The preparation of work permits and assigning of Isolation Lists are specific to the scope of work.
- Liaising with internal stakeholders to ensure the isolation of equipment is undertaken safely.
- Ensuring Work Orders / JSEA’s / Work Instruction’s / Team Based Risk Assessments (TBRAs) have been received from the Permit Acceptor.
- Authorising the issue of Permits and Certificates.
- Drive continued improvements within the permitting & isolation space
What you’ll bring
To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
- A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
- Previous experience working in a similar role and environment.
- Exposure to hazard identification and management.
- An understanding of isolations, P&IDs, work permit processes, WHS requirements, legislation, and risk assessment processes.
- The ability to coordinate with multiple people across departments.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Clear understanding of integrated management systems, word processing, presentations and spread sheets.
- Previous exposure electronic permitting systems will be highly regarded.

This position is based at Paraburdoo, working 8/6 roster with the option to live residentially or commute FIFO from Perth.
Located 80km southwest of Tom Price, Paraburdoo is a town nestled in some of the most scenic landscape in Western Australia.
