About the Role

Report to Supervisor Technology, your accountability includes:

  • Provide onsite Unified Communications support.
  • Provide local desktop technical support and troubleshooting.
  • Provide desktop application functional support such as "how to support".
  • Provide Guest Network support.
  • Manage incidents and service requests through to closure
  • Log onsite incidents and service requests with Service Desk
  • Track progress of incidents and service requests through to closure with the Local Service Desk and resolver teams
  • Provide face-to-face status updates of progress to end-users
  • Perform daily meeting room diagnostic checks
  • Coordinate and manage printer consumables and hardware maintenance with third-party vendors
  • Management of hardware failures - coordinate with hardware maintenance service provider for delivering replacement parts to the BHP Billiton site and the physical installation of the replacement parts
  • Asset Management - Manage equipment and supplies to support 

About You

To be successful in this role we are looking for someone with experience in providing Consultative IT end-user medium to the large organisation.

You will believe in IT excellence and have experience working with the latest Microsoft and Cisco Technologies.

You will have technical experience in the installation, configuration, and support of end-user equipment, as well as experience interacting with both internal/external resolver groups.

You will be ITIL certified with a minimum of a Degree in Information Systems or equivalent desirable.

Self-driven with a positive "can-do" attitude and excellent technical and analytical skills. We expect the IT Specialist to:  

  • Apply sound judgment based on experience, knowledge, and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Deal with day-to-day issues raised by executives, establish priorities, and set deadlines
  • Be able to communicate with executives in a professional manner
  • Ability to communicate outcomes in both written and verbal skills
  • Works to help identify and facilitate changes into operational reality
  • Excellent interpersonal skills - can establish and maintain win-win relationships
  • Excellent teaming and collaboration skills
  • Action-oriented - consistently drives for and delivers results that meet or exceed expectations

Location

In this full-time permanent position, you will be based at Port Hedland and work on the 8D6X roster. There are options for FIFO/DIDO or a Residential base in Port Hedland. Port Hedland is home to our port and rail operations and is the largest regional center in North West Australia.   The outstanding facilities at the FIFO villages include; a fully equipped gym, TV lounge, and games rooms. Additionally, you will have access to the state of the art aquatic and sporting facilities in the town of Port Hedland. All rooms in the villages have their own en-suite bathroom, television, refrigerator, and air-conditioning.
