Ivindo Iron is a Joint Venture between Fortescue Metals Group and the Africa Transformation and Industrialization Fund (ATIF) on the Belinga Iron Project.

The Project is located in the Republic of Gabon, Central Africa, and is potentially one of the world’s largest undeveloped, high-grade hematite deposits.

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated Procurement & Commercial Officer Senior Specialist – Project Belinga to support our Business Integration team for the Belinga Iron Ore Project.

Procurement & Commercial Senior Specialist – Project Belinga

Work Location: Perth. Fortescue’s Perth office is located on the traditional lands of the Whadjuk people.

Travel requirements: This role will demand trips to Gabon. Frequency to be determined.

Role overview:

In this role you will have a dual report line to both Senior Manager, Category (Mining Services, Infrastructure & Exploration) and Manager Business Integration. You will be responsible for coordinating key procurement and commercial activities for material Ivindo agreements. You will be working in a dynamic work environment and will need to be able to think on your feet and report on and present commercial and financial results at all levels.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Liaise with Procurement team for payment of vendors both in Gabon and overseas
  • Assist Ivindo Logistics team with customs and freight requirements  
  • Coordinate Procurement activities between Ivindo and Fortescue
  • Provide coordination of vendor engagement
  • Provide regular reports on the above activities
  • Subject matter expert on Fortescue Procurement and Commercial policies & procedures
  • Assist Ivindo in development of Procurement and Commercial framework and governance

Qualifications and skills:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a similar role, preferably in the mining or natural resources industry.
  • Knowledge of commercial practices, including contract management and risk management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and identify trends.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Flexibility to work outside normal business hours as required.
