An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual to join the Belinga Project team as the Logistics Manager.
The Belinga Project is located in the Republic of Gabon, Central Africa, and is potentially one of the world’s largest undeveloped, high-grade hematite deposits. Ivindo Iron, the Joint Venture between Fortescue Metals Group and the Africa Transformation and Industrialization Fund (ATIF), will evaluate and look to develop the Belinga Project.
Position: Logistics Manager – Belinga Operations
Employment Status: Position to be hired Locally or Internationally.
- Local Roster (2 weeks on / 1 week off)
- Expat Roster (6 weeks on : 3 weeks off, via APAC or 4 weeks on : 2 weeks off via Europe)
Position Overview:
As the Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for developing and implementing effective logistics strategies to support our mining exploration activities.
Key duties will include:
- Develop and implement logistics strategies: Design and implement logistics plans and strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives. Evaluate current logistics processes and identify areas for improvement to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee equipment and personnel movement: Coordinate and oversee the transportation of equipment and personnel to and from mining exploration sites. Ensure timely and safe movement of resources while optimizing costs.
- Manage customs brokers and freight forwarders: Build and maintain strong relationships with customs brokers and freight forwarders to facilitate the timely and cost-effective import and export of goods. Collaborate with them to ensure smooth clearance of shipments through customs.
- Monitor inventory levels: Regularly monitor inventory levels of essential supplies and equipment. Coordinate with the procurement team to ensure adequate stock levels are maintained to support mining operations without interruptions.
- Ensure regulatory compliance: Stay up-to-date with local regulations pertaining to transportation, customs, and trade. Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, permits, licenses, and documentation requirements to avoid any legal or operational issues.
- Lead logistics team: Manage a team of logistics coordinators and officers responsible for various logistics tasks. Provide guidance, support, and training to the team members, foster a collaborative work environment, and promote professional growth.
Key Experience & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Logistics Manager or in a similar role within the mining or heavy equipment industry.
- Strong knowledge of logistics operations, including transportation, customs clearance, and inventory management.
- Familiarity with local regulations related to transportation, customs, and trade in Gabon.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with internal stakeholders, customs brokers, and freight forwarders.
- Proficient in using logistics software and technology for tracking shipments and managing inventory.
