Project Engineer – Gabon PPP Project
ROSTER: 6 weeks on : 3 weeks off (from Australia)
An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual to join the Belinga Project team as a Project Engineer.
The Belinga Project is located in the Republic of Gabon, Central Africa, and is potentially one of the world’s largest undeveloped, high-grade hematite deposits. Ivindo Iron, the Joint Venture between Fortescue Metals Group and the Africa Transformation and Industrialization Fund (ATIF), will evaluate and look to develop the Belinga Project.
This role will be an integral part of the Belinga Project team and focus on the design and development of the onsite infrastructure. The role will be required to champion the installation, and commissioning aspects of the project and be ultimately responsible for delivering it safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Create and review detailed project documentation (scopes, designs, plans, schedule, budgets etc., etc.)
- Scoping, tendering, and managing minor procurement and construction contracts.
- Overseeing and assisting onsite contractors completing minor construction works
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with project stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate budget and schedule forecasts for on-site works.
- Manage project communications including escalation of issues with site and Perth teams.
Qualifications and skills:
- A working knowledge of Communication Systems (UHF, VHF, Tetra, Internet).
- Background in Mechatronic, Process Control, or Electrical Engineering.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and continual improvement focus
- Excellent communication skills with bilingual English/French preferred
- Experience overseeing/assisting contractors completing minor construction works.
- Effective and practical approach to managing on site safety
- Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to use SAP
Other:
- Role is initially office based, Perth or Libreville, as the Project moves through to construction the role will begin a roster to the Project Site, Belinga, Gabon.
