Ivindo Iron - Project Engineer Rail - Gabon PPP Project

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual to join the Belinga Project team as a Project Engineer.

The Belinga Project is located in the Republic of Gabon, Central Africa, and is potentially one of the world’s largest undeveloped, high-grade hematite deposits. Ivindo Iron, the Joint Venture between Fortescue Metals Group and the Africa Transformation and Industrialization Fund (ATIF), will evaluate and look to develop the Belinga Project.

This role will be an integral part of the Belinga Project team and focus on the design and development of the Ivindo Rail siding and associated infrastructure. The role is required for the successful design, installation, and commissioning of the rail siding, while delivering it safely, on schedule, and within budget.

This position is to be recruited locally within Gabon.

Key accountabilities will include:

• Work with the design Contractor to progress through to construction readiness
• Develop and review project documentations (scopes, designs, plans, schedule, budgets etc., etc.)
• Managing onsite and offsite contractors completing design and construction works
• Work alongside the Owners Engineering design team to determine solutions that are fit for purpose
• Manage Project communications
• Ensure the package delivery is on time, within budget and meets the stakeholder expectations

Qualifications and skills:

• Major in Mechanical or Civil Engineering with 5 years’ experience minimum
• Previous experience working with rail construction projects
• Project Engineering experience including design and construction
• Excellent problem-solving skills and continual improvement focus
• Excellent communication skills with bilingual English/French preferred
• Effective and practical approach to managing on site safety
• Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Excel

Other:

• Role is initially office based, Libreville, with the requirement to occasionally travel to the Project Location, Belinga
