Ivindo Iron - Security Lead

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated individual to join the Belinga Project team as a Security Lead.
The Belinga Project is located in the Republic of Gabon, Central Africa, and is potentially one of the world’s largest undeveloped, high-grade hematite deposits. Ivindo Iron, the Joint Venture between Fortescue Metals Group and the Africa Transformation and Industrialization Fund (ATIF), will evaluate and look to develop the Belinga Project.
This role will be an integral part of the Belinga Project team and focus on the design and development of the Ivindo Rail siding and associated infrastructure. The role is required for the successful design, installation, and commissioning of the rail siding, while delivering it safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Position Description: Security Lead (In-country hire)
Location: Gabon
Responsibilities:
Staff and Security Advice/Legislation Compliance:
- Provide expert advice and guidance to management and staff on security-related matters.
- Ensure compliance with local security regulations, legislation, and industry best practices.
- Develop and implement security policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Threat/Risk Mitigation and Monitoring:
- Conduct regular risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities.
- Develop and implement strategies to mitigate security risks and minimise their impact.
- Monitor security systems and procedures to identify and address any gaps or weaknesses.
Theft Prevention:
- Design and implement effective measures to prevent theft, including physical security measures, access control systems, and surveillance systems.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to investigate and address incidents of theft promptly.
- Continuously evaluate and improve security measures to stay ahead of evolving threats.
- Emergency/Crisis Management Support:
- Collaborate with Health and Safety (H&S) teams to develop and implement emergency response plans.
- Assist in crisis management situations, ensuring the safety and well-being of personnel and property.
- Coordinate with external emergency services and authorities as necessary.
Due Diligence (Background Checks):
- Assist in conducting due diligence investigations, including background checks on potential employees, contractors, and suppliers.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to due diligence activities.
- Security Training:
- Develop and deliver comprehensive security training programs for employees, contractors, and security personnel.
- Stay updated on the latest security techniques and technologies to incorporate into training programs.
- Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and make necessary improvements.
Investigations:
- Conduct internal investigations into security incidents, breaches, or violations.
- Collect and analyse evidence, interview relevant parties, and provide detailed reports.
- Collaborate with law enforcement agencies, as required, to ensure appropriate action is taken.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Security Management, Criminology, or a related discipline desirable.
- Extensive experience in security management, preferably in a mining or industrial environment.
- In-depth knowledge of security regulations, legislation, and best practices.
- Strong understanding of threat assessment, risk management, and crisis/emergency response procedures.
- Proven experience in theft prevention, investigations, and due diligence activities.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver effective security training programs.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Proficiency in relevant security software, systems, and technologies.
- Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken.
