Ivindo Iron SA is a joint venture under Gabonese law created by the Australian mining conglomerate FMG (Fortescue Metals Group) and the ATIF fund (Africa Transformation and Industrialization Fund) and whose object is to develop the Belinga project.
This project located in Republic of Gabon, in Central Africa, is potentially one of the largest deposits undeveloped high-grade hematite in the world.
Senior Training Advisor
Location: Gabon on FIFO basis
Roster: 6 weeks on, 3 weeks off FIFO Australia or 4 weeks on, 2 weeks off FIFO Europe
We are currently seeking a highly experienced & motivated Senior Training Advisor to join the Belinga project in Gabon. Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager - Gabon, this site-based role is responsible for coordinating and managing operational training activities to support the Pilot Production Phase of the Belinga project in Gabon.
This will include the adaption, update and implementation of Fortescue training to Ivindo Iron training. The focus will be the development and rollout of training for Ivindo Iron and a broad range of verification of competencies, however there will also be oversight of training for site contracting groups.
To be successful in this role candidates must have broad Training acumen, with strong interpersonal skills and good understanding of exploration, construction projects & operations. The candidate will possess strong leadership skills being able to articulate key risk activities for the project and to develop and implement sound solutions in line with the business values.
The main responsibilities will include:
- Be innovative and imaginative in development & delivery of all FMG & Ivindo training courses whilst ensuring industry best practice is applied.
- Collaborate with Contractors Management Team to ensure alignment with FMG Training Management processes, current legislation and best practice.
- Utilise business software to develop programs, review current competencies required and completed.
- Verify Competencies of Personnel across multiple items of plant and equipment.
- Identify and rectify any gaps recognised in training needs.
Qualifications and skills required:
- At least ten (10) years’ experience in the mining industry, with appropriate experience in exploration, construction projects & operations
- Training qualifications Cert IV in TAE 40116 (or equivalent e.g. TAE 40110 plus LLN 402 and ASS 401, 403, 502
- Experience in operating mobile plant and equipment and/or ability to VOC high risk licenses.
- Experience in developing a Training Matrix and utilizing a Training Needs Analysis to gap analyse and develop training programmes to meet minimum requirements.
- Demonstrated success in operations management and site establishment, preferably in West African or other high rainfall, high relief environments.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to communicate at all levels of the business (internal and external).
- Bilingual English / French advantageous.
