Ivindo Iron SA is a joint venture under Gabonese law created by the Australian mining conglomerate FMG (Fortescue Metals Group) and the ATIF fund (Africa Transformation and Industrialization Fund) and whose object is to develop the Belinga project .

This project located in Republic of Gabon, in Central Africa, is potentially one of the largest deposits undeveloped high grade hematite in the world.

Position: Site Surveyor (Expatriate Hire)

Roster: 6 weeks on : 3 weeks off (Travelling for APAC) or 4 weeks on : 2 weeks off (Travelling from Europe or Africa)

Duration: 12-months 

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Highlighting process risks and potential rewards to allow informed decision making.
  • Formulating project parameters and assigning responsibilities to the most capable employees and monitoring the project team.
  • Cooperating and communicating with the Operations Manager and other project participants and collaborating with the Contractors Engineers to create more efficient project methods and to maintain the project's profitability and targets.
  • Developing specifications for the project's needed equipment.
  • Creating frameworks to measure the project's metrics and data collection.
  • Ensuring the process design compliance with the applicable codes, practices, policies, performance standards, and specifications.
  • Conduct land surveys to set clearance boundaries and mining haul roads using GPS and other surveying tools.
  • Analyse and interpret survey data to determine property boundaries, topography, and other factors that may affect mining operations.
  • Prepare detailed maps, charts, and reports of survey data for use by the mining team and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as engineering and environmental, to ensure that mining operations are conducted safely and in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of survey data and update maps and other documents as necessary.
  • Monthly survey of stockpile and material such as ore and waste pit, road, stockpile, and dump designs.
  • Mark out of blast designs
  • Mark out of Ore and waste material in pit Boundaries to the Ore and Waste, marked with paint and or dig tapes.
  • Set out all engineering designs out in the field.
  • Mark out all Land Use Certificates for all clearing.
  • Set out the activities to completed by the Contractor.
  • Create e ASCONs of all infostructure that is on site.

Experience & Key Skills 

  • Bachelor's degree in surveying, geomatics, or a related field. OrAdvance diploma for TAFE(3year)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in land surveying, preferably in the mining industry
  • Software like Vulcan/Surpac/12D/TBC/Global mapper experience is preferred
  • Some drone experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in the use of surveying tools, such as GPS and total stations.
