Job Description:
The Jumbo Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate drilling of underground development headings in accordance with mine plans. This includes installing ground support, face preparation, and general jumbo operation duties.

The position will be offered on a 7 nights on, 7 days on, 14 days off FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO from surrounding areas.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety, adhering to Vault Minerals' safety standards.
  • Operate twin-boom and/or single-boom jumbos to safely and accurately drill development headings.
  • Mark up faces for drilling and ground support installation.
  • Install ground support including bolts, mesh, and straps.
  • Conduct scaling operations to remove loose rock.
  • Perform pre-start inspections and report maintenance needs.
  • Liaise with engineers, surveyors, and geologists.
  • Undertake minor maintenance tasks on equipment.
  • Complete shift reports, drill logs, and maintenance logs.
  • Take responsibility for the underground nipper whiles assisting setup, bolting, meshing and boring.
  • Other duties as specified by shift supervisor

Key factors to your success include:

  • Minimum 2-3 years recent experience operating Jumbo rig in underground hard rock mining
  • Proficient knowledge of drilling techniques, ground control installation, scaling, and equipment maintenance.
  • Understanding of mining regulations, ground conditions, ventilation, and water management.
  • Experience operating Atlas Copco, Sandvik, or similar jumbos
  • Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting
  • Senior First Aid – preferred
  • Dangerous Goods & Security Card
  • Current and Valid Australian Manual Drivers Licence
  • Australian Working Rights
