Deflector Site Overview
Deflector Operation consists of two high-grade, narrow vein Gold/Copper mines, located 160km east of Geraldton. The ore is contained in a series of structurally complex lodes, namely the Deflector and Deflector South West deposits.
Reporting to the Underground Shift Supervisor, the Jumbo Operator is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate drilling of underground development headings in accordance with mine plans. This includes installing ground support, face preparation, and general jumbo operation duties.

Key Responsibilities of this Role Will Include
- Operate twin-boom and/or single-boom jumbos to safely and accurately drill development headings
- Mark up faces for drilling and ground support installation
- Install ground support including bolts, mesh, and straps
- Conduct scaling operations to remove loose rock
- Perform pre-start inspections and report maintenance needs
- Liaise with engineers, surveyors, and geologists
- Undertake minor maintenance tasks on equipment
- Complete shift reports, drill logs, and maintenance logs
- Take responsibility for the underground nipper while assisting setup, bolting, meshing, and boring
- Maintain compliance with WHS legislation and site procedures
- Participate in shift handovers, meetings, and change management processes
- Drive continuous improvement and cost-saving initiatives
About You:
- 3–5 years recent experience operating Jumbo rigs in underground hard rock mining
- Experience operating Atlas Copco, Sandvik, or similar jumbos
- WA Manual Driver’s Licence (C-Class)
- WA Dangerous Goods Security Card (DGSC)
- Nationally Accredited Working at Heights Certification
- Level 1 & Level 2 Isolation (Site Inducted)
- Gas Test Atmospheres Knowledge (Site Inducted)
- Senior First Aid Certificate
