We have an opportunity for an experienced Laboratory Technician looking to further their career as a Laboratory Analyst to support the Yarwun Operation with analytical methodologies and procedures using advanced scientific instruments.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced laboratory technician with established analytical skills looking for a new challenge & career growth. This is a Lifestyle shift roster with 2 weekends off a month.

Reporting to the Team Leader- Laboratory and working in a supporting and inclusive team you will be:

  • Supporting non-routine analysis work that will help improve and grow the business
  • Conducting planned maintenance and inspection of equipment to provide safe and reliable operation.
  • Communicating analysis results to site customers in a timely manner to enable them to carry out their work.

What you will bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Current C class or above drivers licence
  • Sound computer knowledge and application, e.g. MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, Sharepoint
  • Certificate III or IV in Laboratory Techniques, or evidence of completing on the job training within a laboratory setting
  • Previous experience with LIMS
  • A keen eye for detail and the ability to work with large amount of data and follow stringent processes

Where you’ll be working

Located in Central Queensland, approximately 10km north-west of Gladstone, Yarwun alumina refinery commenced operations in 2004.  Processing bauxite from our mines in Weipa and Gove, Yarwun produces more than three million tonnes of smelter grade alumina annually.

As one of the largest industries in the Gladstone region, Yarwun employs over 700 people and has a large contractor workforce.

With a focus on safely improving our process every day, the team at Yarwun challenge themselves to use existing and emerging technology to support our 24 hour operation.
