Who we’re looking for  

We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our Laboratory based at Orange. Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, you will be accountable for preparing and analysing geological and metallurgical samples whilst meeting safety, production, turnaround and quality targets.

The key responsibilities for this role include (but are not limited to):

• Support a positive safety culture by participating in Newsafe and compliance to Safe Work Instructions
• Perform duties including sample preparation, fire assay, wet chemistry, instrumentation and concentrate analysis to meet quality and turnaround expectations
• Perform necessary pre-starts and daily/weekly maintenance on equipment/instruments to ensure they remain in working order
• Ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements at the laboratory
• Contribute to laboratory safety and production improvement initiatives
• The current roster for this role 7/7 - 12hr days only

The successful candidate will possess the following:

• Experience working in a laboratory or mining related field
• Ability to manage time effectively to deliver consistent quality outcomes
• Familiarity with laboratory techniques
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities
• Commitment to sustaining the Newcrest’s safety culture, values, and behaviours at Newcrest
