Laboratory Technician – Electrolysis – FFI IONIX
Location: Wilmington, Delaware, initially based in Harrington
Roster: Monday to Friday
The lab technician will be responsible for supporting senior-level research scientist in research, testing and laboratory maintenance. The duties include recording data, preparing solutions and electrodes, materials evaluation, and ordering and organizing supplies. Their role is to support other laboratory employees by maintaining a safe environment, organizing logbooks, labelling, and storing samples and maintaining inventory. They also perform quality-control tests and audit lab logbooks to ensure proper procedures. Lab Technicians maintain an understanding of safety and disposal of hazardous waste.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Coating inks on electrodes for electrochemical devices
- Fabricate the membrane electrode assemblies in electrolyzer based on the standard procedure
- Perform routine and non-routine electrochemical tests using the appropriate electrochemical equipment and instruments based on the SOPs.
- Record, summarize, and report testing results to senior scientist
- Prepare ink solutions, and maintain inventory
- Perform quality control and calibrate equipment if necessary
- Maintain equipment in proper working order and maintain a clean work area
- Practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations
Qualifications and skills required:
- Associate’s degree is required
- Technical degree related to chemistry, science, engineering, electrochemistry is preferred.
- Experience on working in a laboratory is preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or higher degree with science, engineering background is preferred
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Ability to understand electronic and computerized equipment in laboratories
- Able to strictly follow instructions and strictly follow standard procedures
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and other relevant computer programs
- Analytical and numerical skills: ability to perform mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide) in different units of measurement; ability to use concepts such as fractions, percentages, and ratios
- Uncompromising dedication to quality
- Teamwork oriented and focused
- Ability to perform physically demanding work such as moving and lifting equipment up to 30 lbs., standing for long periods of time etc.
