About the Role
Our Production Processing department is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join a motivated and results-driven team. Working within a core group, this role will conduct laboratory activities such as collecting and analysing samples for Washplant performance and quality monitoring to enable the safe achievement of delivering on-spec coal to our customers.
Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, this permanent position is offered on a 3 Day, 3 Night and 6 Off shift roster.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Collection and analysis of samples while standardising processes and ensuring quality
- Review outcomes of performance monitoring activities to draw insights on sample quality and flag potential risks with relevant teams
- Complete problem solving routines to implement countermeasures at the root cause
- Following laboratory standards and procedures while identifying improvement opportunities
- Equipment calibration and accuracy
- Actively support and adhere to safety procedures and practices
- Data entry and quality control
- Maintain a safe, clean and organised workspace
About You

About Peak Downs
Peak Downs is a large open cut coking coal mine in Queensland located 31 km SSE of Moranbah. Peak Downs is one of seven mines in Bowen Basin owned by BMA, Australia’s largest coal miner and exporter. Production at Peak Downs started in 1972. The Peak Downs mine produces coking coal, which is transported to the Hay Point Terminal south of Mackay.
