We are looking for a Land Access Advisor to support the co-ordination and execution of land disturbance programs to facilitate the operational requirements and ensuring that it is undertaken in relation to regulatory and stakeholder expectations.

This role is a great opportunity for an experienced professional with land management or engineering experience to contribute to the success of our Land and Rehabilitation program whilst advancing their career with a global mining leader. Working 40Hr Day Work (Mon-Fri) 5 on 2 off and reporting to the Superintendent Land & Rehabilitation, you will be: 

  • Working with internal stakeholders to develop and review annual and long-term disturbance plans
  • Execution of the annual land disturbance plan and coordination of contractors to execute the clearing works
  • Scheduling and management of ecological surveys and approvals
  • Supporting the development of regulatory reporting and compliance in relation to land access
  • Supporting the execution of annual land management and rehabilitation programs.

What you will need for this role

To succeed in this role, you will have: 

  • Environmental science/engineering formal qualification or Agricultural Science qualification
  • Qualifications in environmental science, engineering, or related discipline
  • Experience with land access strategy and execution
  • Experience in land management programs
  • High level of competency in GIS
  • Experience in managing multiple contractors and consultants in regard to environmental studies. 

It will also be beneficial if you have: 

  • Experience in ESRI ArcGIS desirable
  • Contractor, project and budget management skills preferred
  • Prioritization and Time Management skills desirable

Where you will be working

Our Weipa Operations includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, ship loaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals. Located on the Western Cape York Peninsula in Far North Queensland, each year the operation produces more than 35 million tonnes of bauxite.

Our operations are supported by a 1,900-strong workforce—including 26 per cent who are women and 25 per cent Indigenous employees. Activities include mine operations, maintenance, asset management, ports, cultural heritage management, and processing facility management.

The development of our new mine, Amrun, which was completed in 2018, will extend the life of our Weipa bauxite operations by decades to come and significantly build on our 55-year history on the Western Cape.
