About the Role

Our Camps and Aviation team are seeking an Aerodrome Operations Lead to join a technically motivated and results-driven team. Working within a core group, this role will supervise Aerodrome Reporting Officer activities to ensure the safe and efficient conduct of Aerodrome Operations at Barimunya Aerodrome in accordance with the BHP Aviation Management Procedure and legislative requirements.  

You will also have responsibilities for:

  • Assist the Mass Transportation Superintendent in Auditing compliance to internal and external Risk Management Standards, Processes and Procedures.
  • Lead Aerodrome Operations for Barimunya Airport.
  • Oversight of Aerodrome Inspections and Reporting in accordance with CASA Manual of Standards Part 139   and the BHP WAIO Aerodrome Manual suite of documents 
  • Set and effectively communicate targets and expectations aligned with BHP Charter values.
  • Accept accountability for the performance of their teams by ensuring quality of tasks, services and advice to the Operation and Asset functions.
  • Lead the optimal resourcing of the Aerodromes and ensure that the simplification/implementation of systems and processes are core priorities to enable effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Lead, coach and mentor employees to deliver on the strategic plan and build a high performing team.
  • Cultivate positive relationships, both internally and externally, through effective communication and consultation.
  • Positively influence and shape the culture to ensure a safe, productive, quality, sustainable and disciplined approach to work. 
  • Responsible for the review and implementation of the Aerodrome Manual, including the associated Emergency Response and Safety Management System documentation.
  • Liaise with contracted Aviation service providers on day of operations disruptions where and when required

Location

You will be based at our 'Yandi' mine at our Spinifex Village. Yandi is located approximately 170kms north of Newman West Australia. The outstanding facilities at the Spinifex village include; a fully equipped gym, swimming pool, squash, tennis and basketball courts, golf driving range, mini golf, netted cricket pitch, beach volleyball court and recreation room. All rooms at the village have their own ensuite bathroom, television, internet, refrigerator, and air-conditioning. 

This role is offered on a 4 days on, 3 days off, 5 days on, 2 days off roster.  

About You

  • Aerodrome Reporting Officer certification from an accredited training service provider 
  • Aviation Dangerous goods awareness certificate desirable*
  • Previous experience in managing material risk specifically linked to Aviation, Civil Aviation Safety Authority and Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) desirable.
  • Aircraft flight line operations experience
  • Experience in Aerodrome Management
  • Ability to manage conflicting priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability in conducting documentation review and development
