About the Role

As Lead BOS, you will lead the site's BOS coaching capability and partner with leaders across the operation to embed the BHP Operating System, strengthen frontline ownership and build a culture of continuous improvement. 

Based in Perth, you will work across multiple functions to develop capability, drive operational excellence and support teams to deliver safe, predictable and sustainable performance outcomes. 

Regular site travel will be required to build capability, strengthen stakeholder partnerships and support BOS maturity across the operation.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead, develop and coach a team of BOS Specialists to deliver high-impact improvement outcomes.
  • Build BOS capability across leaders and frontline teams through coaching, mentoring and practical application.
  • Partner with operational leaders to identify, prioritise and deliver improvement initiatives.
  • Drive the consistent application of BOS principles, tools and standardised work practices.
  • Support leaders to solve complex business problems using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Facilitate cross-functional improvement initiatives that improve safety, productivity and culture.
  • Monitor and support BOS maturity across the operation, ensuring sustainable adoption of ways of working.
  • Use data and performance insights to inform decision-making and measure improvement outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, continuous improvement and frontline empowerment.
  • Develop a strong pipeline of BOS talent and capability across the business

About You

You are a capable leader and coach with a passion for continuous improvement and operational excellence. You excel at building relationships, influencing stakeholders and developing capability at all levels of an organisation. With experience leading improvement initiatives and embedding sustainable ways of working, you can translate strategy into practical outcomes that improve safety, productivity and team performance.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or significant practical experience in operations, engineering, business improvement or a related discipline.
  • Experience leading teams and developing capability through coaching and feedback.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing and sustaining BOS, Lean, Operational Excellence or Continuous Improvement practices.
  • Strong knowledge of structured problem solving, systems thinking and standardised work.
  • Proven ability to identify and deliver sustainable operational improvements.
  • Experience coaching and influencing leaders and frontline teams.
  • Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to analyse data and use insights to support decision-making and performance improvement.
  • Understanding of operational processes and value chains within mining, processing, maintenance or heavy industry environments.
  • High levels of integrity, self-awareness and collaboration.
  • A commitment to safety, continuous learning and operational excellence.
