ABOUT GEMCO

Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 15% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963.

The onsite accommodation includes meal services and access to excellent facilities, including a gym, beachside workout area, swimming pool, golf course, tennis and squash courts, a sports oval and a range of scenic walking tracks.

ABOUT THE ROLE 

This role is a Permanent full-time position on a 4:3 roster, Monday to Thursday, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns. Residential option to live on Groote Eylandt considered.  

As the Lead Construction, you will be responsible for leading the safe and successful delivery of a portfolio of capital projects, ensuring construction execution, project outcomes, safety performance and schedule commitments are achieved in line with governance requirements.

Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to: 

• Develop construction plans, sequencing strategies and portfolio schedules
• Provide leadership, direction and support to project supervisors and leads
• Ensure contractor compliance with project, safety and quality requirements
• Manage stakeholder interfaces across operations, maintenance and project teams

ABOUT YOU 

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: 

• Leading construction teams within complex operational environments
• Influencing stakeholders and building strong working relationships
• Managing competing priorities across multiple concurrent projects
• Driving a proactive safety culture and continuous performance improvement

Qualifications for this position are: 

• Trade or tertiary qualification in Construction Management, Engineering or a related discipline
• Current C Class Drivers Licence
