About the Role

We are currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Lead Control Systems Engineer to join the NPI Control Systems Team based in Newman. This role will provide you the opportunity to excel in your career and extend your technical expertise working across a number of different control system assets. This role is offered as a FIFO role on a 5/2/4/3 roster,  Reporting to the Superintendent Controls NW,JBAR and NPI You will be responsible for, but not limited to:  •    Lead a team of site based control system specialists to support the ongoing operations of our Non Process Infrastructure (NPI) assets.  •    Manage a wide variety of day to day team activities from coordinating breakdown support, to approving control systems changes, to managing team movement and budgets.   •    Foster a strong relationship with our stakeholder by working collaboratively cross teams, with NPI operations, maintenance, reliability and engineering.  •    Build a positive team culture through open honest feedback and encouraging continuous development.   •    Drive improvement ideas through minor works and/or capital projects, and oversee ideas from initiation through to design and implementation.   •    Provide technical governance on all aspects of NPI control systems, ensuring all control systems changes on site are properly risk assessed and compliant to site specific standards. 

About You

You are a motivated, passionate and enthusiastic Control Systems professional with a Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering / Control Systems Engineering (or equivalent experience).   You have relevant industry experience with a demonstrated practical and hands on approach. Previous experience in the Power or Water industry will be advantageous.   Previous experience with leading a technical team will be advantageous.  You are able to demonstrate experience in some or all of the following attributes, technical skills and abilities to be successful in this role: •    Experience with configuration and programming of PLC Platforms essential, i.e. Rockwell, Siemens or GE.  •    Experience with configuration and programming of SCADA/HMI systems essential, i.e. CitectSCADA, FactoryTalk View, or WinCC.  •    Familiar with HV substation automation, protection and communication systems. Hands on experience with the configuration and troubleshooting of various types protection relays, RTUs and communications equipment will be advantageous.  •    Familiar with the operation of potable water extraction, transfer and treatment processes. Hands on experience with the configuration and troubleshooting of common instruments and equipment in the water treatment facility will be advantageous.  •    Good written communication skills such as functional specifications, change request documentation, test and commissioning procedures and input to drawing schematics. •    Good verbal communication skills with the ability to contribute in a teamwork atmosphere within the work group and with Control System operators and maintainers. •    Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks. •    Comply with and contribute to the improvement of control systems standards and Functional Safety Systems design and maintenance lifecycle.
