ABOUT THE ROLE

The Opportunity - Permanent, Full-Time Position, based at our office in the heart of the Perth CBD. We understand and value the benefits flexibility brings and operate a hybrid work model (in the office and from home)

As the Lead Corporate Finance & Insurance, you will be responsible for setting the strategic direction for all insurance activities including, the annual renewal of major insurance programs, self-insurance strategy and day-to-day management of the worker’s compensation insurance for the Group and Operations. You will also support execution of Group Treasury’s strategic objectives, providing inputs to balance sheet and capital management activities.

Other key role responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:

  • Lead engagement with external insurance market participants to define the Group’s risk financing strategy and identify opportunities to selectively transfer risk on commercial terms or retain specific classes of risk, including through the deployment of the company’s captive insurance
  • Oversee the Group's various insurance programs to ensure adequate protection of the organization and respond to the changing risk profile, including in relation to non-operated joint-venture management
  • Communication of recommendations to senior management, including the Financial Risk Committee and the Board
  • Ensure compliance with local insurance requirements for each jurisdiction of operation are met

 ABOUT YOU

You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:

  • Experience in the insurance industry (working with resources clients) developing risk financing and insurance strategies is highly desirable
  • Working knowledge of legal concepts such as contracts and liability especially related to insurance
  • Ability to articulate complex ideas and concepts and “tell the story” to internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to interact with a diverse range of external stakeholders in formal and informal settings with a strategy to achieve long-term goals for South32
  • Critical thinking, analysis, strong problem-solving, reasoning, and critiquing
  • High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously

Qualifications for this position are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. Commerce. Engineering or a relevant technical discipline
