Title: Lead Cost Controller

Work location: Murray St

Roster: 5/2 Roster (Mon to Fri) 

We are presently looking for an experienced Lead Cost Controller. The role is responsible for the implementation of project controls management, processes and procedures, development of project control capabilities and the provision of capital budgeting and cost forecasting services and support. 

The role is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the project’s forecast, budget is managed and allocated correctly, time phasing of commitments and value of work is accurate, and accruals are maintained.

Key accountabilities will include: 

  • Ensure the cost management system is maintained and accurately reflects the forecast at completion for the monthly reporting cycle
  • Ensure monthly cost review meetings are scheduled with all stakeholders
  • Manage the month end cost reporting cycle
  • Prepare value of work (VoWD) and commitment reporting worksheet (excel/Anaplan) at month end
  • Consolidate inputs for VoWD and commitments in VoWD & commitment worksheet at month end
  • Review commitments, accruals and VoWD time phasing and notify management when satisfied
  • Publish after feedback from management
  • Consolidate variance analysis for commitments and VoWD for:
    • Last Month
    • Last Quarter
    • Financial Year
    • Project Final Forecast Cost
  • Ensure cost functions adherence to project controls procedures
  • Prepare Phase Stage Summary Reports fortnightly
  • Assist in management of change (MOC) process
  • Ensure cost control team are adequately trained for the role, training
  • To identify innovative methods to continuously improve the cost control methods
  • To ensure the setting and achievement of Cost Control Group KPI’s and measures
  • Promote a supportive and constructive work environment

Qualifications and skills required: 

  • 10+ years’ project cost control experience on complex engineering projects 
  • Degree qualified (bachelor’s degree in Engineering and/or Commerce/Finance and Project Management) or internationally accredited project controls certification 
  • Demonstrated experience managing and reporting the cost components of large-scale, complex projects
  • Experience in using cost management systems
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives;
  • Knowledge and familiarity with accrual, commitments, consolidation and elimination accounting principles
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong excel skills and data management skills
