About the Role
The Smelter Refinery Expansion (SRE) Project aims to support the creation of a Copper Province with total copper production exceeding 500ktpa by early 2030s via a staged expansion of the Olympic Dam smelter and refinery facilities. The Project is currently in SPS, scheduled to gate to DPS in 2025 and Final Investment Decision (FID) in 2026.
The purpose of the Lead Delivery is to provide construction and delivery capability support to the project. Liaising and managing the EPCM delivery contractor whilst supporting the projects customer needs
In this role you will:
- Liaise with and manage the EPCM service provider to delivery the project outcomes.
- Explore and iteratively reassesses the best fit solutions, takes ownership of project decisions and outcomes and monitors and manages impacts to value across the project lifecycle (e.g. social, environmental, commercial).
- Develops integrated project deliverables and integrates project work across projects through interfacing with stakeholders and managing the successful transition of project/phase closure.
- Develops and implements project turnover processes and executes commissioning/handover activities to facilitate the successful commissioning of equipment/projects across BHP.
- Monitors HSE compliance and applies appropriate methodologies/standards to deliver effective construction projects across BHP.
- Defines project objectives/schedules, identifies critical activities, monitors the project plan/schedule and drives continuous improvement initiatives across projects at BHP.
- Monitors and manages project performance to deliver projects in line with safety standards, requirements, budget and scope.
- Follows risk management processes, conducts risk assessments, complies with standards and accurately reports on risk to maximise safety and value across projects at BHP.
- Manages contract execution and analysis to maximise operational and financial performance and mitigate exposure and risk.
- Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.
About You
- 15+ years leading construction projects in complex processing pyrometallurgical plants
- Experience working under an EPCM delivery model
- Previous experience in delivering a Mega Project exceeding $1B
- Ability to transition to a site roster of 2 weeks on 1 week off during execution.
- Safety orientated with sound OH&S knowledge and specific statutory obligations.
- Team leadership experience, with a focus on developing individuals and building a culture of collaboration, problem solving & innovation.
- Strong technical and mentoring capabilities.
- Experience in risk management incl. material risk.
- Demonstrated experience as an operational site technical expert for mechanical engineering.
- Technical governance for engineering standards, with sound knowledge of document control.
- Experience in review & development of quality technical documents & SOW.
- Management of contractors & consultants.
- Demonstrated experience at establishing and maintaining productive relationships and working collaboratively.
