About the RoleWe are looking for a Lead Engineer to join our Bell Bay Aluminium Smelter to provide leadership and technical engineering guidance and governance for the on-site engineering team. As a key member of the Asset Management team, this role will enable our people to be their best and continually innovate and challenge the way work is done.
The Lead Engineer role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient and effective application of our asset management strategy and business plans to deliver safe outcomes for our people and sustainable physical assets. Join us in shaping the future of asset management excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesYou’ll provide technical and general leadership to assigned engineers, reliability officers and technicians and help to implement Rio Tinto's Asset Management system. Additionally, you will be the custodian of the site defect elimination process and conduct complex equipment failure investigation, mitigation and problem solving.What You'll Bring

Proven success managing multidisciplinary teams
Strong experience in plant based engineering environment.
Demonstrated maintenance, discipline or reliability engineering experience in either mechanical or electrical stream.
Strong knowledge of maintenance and reliability processes and systems
Demonstrated knowledge of SAP or similar CMMS
A passion for mentoring and providing development pathways for your team
Ability to work collaboratively with team members and key stakeholders across the business including operations and maintenance.

Our Bell Bay Aluminium smelter began operating in 1955 and holds a unique place in Tasmanian and Australian history as the first aluminium smelter in the Southern Hemisphere.
Based approximately 50 kilometres from Launceston in Northern Tasmania, the smelter produces primary aluminium products. We have a long and proud history in Tasmania of supporting our community and are committed to building enduring relationships built on mutual respect, collaboration, and genuine partnership.
