About the Role
Reporting to the Superintendent Projects PACE, you will lead a diverse team of Project Managers, Project Engineers, Construction Supervisors and Coordinators along with our contractor partners, to successfully deliver projects within BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA) with a focus on customer expectations, HSE, processes, standards, quality and cost. Through supportive leadership and ongoing development of your team you will encourage teams to deliver sustainable, quality and customer-based outcomes which align to the BMA Capital Portfolio. The PACE team is a central based team, specialising in the delivery of Processing, Automation, Control System and Fatality Eliminating projects across a number of BMA Assets.
This role will be Brisbane based, offering exceptional flexibility and lifestyle however some adhoc travel to the Bowen Basin will be required.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Contribution to the BHP Field leadership programme, safety initiatives and well-being of all others by actively understanding, identify and addressing observations throughout all aspects of the project lifecycle
- Demonstrating fit for purpose management skills utilising the small project management framework based on sound project management practices;
- Managing a portfolio of complex technical projects through all phases (Initiation, Identification, Selection, Definition and Execution) with focus on scope development for: business case framing, trade-off study, detailed engineering designs and execution work;
- Monitoring and governing project performance, controls and deviations;
- Exploring best fit solutions for projects iteratively across the lifecycle;
- Review of designs and/or design reviews as required;
- Manage, mentor and train the team on best practice PMBOK processes, including but not limited to; stakeholder management, risk/change management, contractor management and budget and schedule management.
About You
You will have:
- Tertiary qualified Engineer or relevant experience
- Portfolio management as well as development and delivery experience in brownfield environments (i.e. Operating plants)
- Demonstrated experience developing and leading a small team, geographically diverse locations considered favourably but not required
- Delivery focused, possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with the skills and ability to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders
- Knowledge and understanding of engineering design principles, compliance to standards and ability to develop detailed scopes in a brownfield environment
- Demonstrate clear ability to work independently as well as part of a larger team
- Well-developed projects process and financial competencies in order to effectively promote and guide project value propositions
- Demonstrate the confidence to lead by example, hold yourself and others accountable and coach others in ‘Safety Leadership’
