About the Role

Reporting to the Superintendent Mine Planning, this role will see you project manage the Olympic Dam Mine Debottlenecking Program of Works. The Lead Mine Infrastructure Planner will play an instrumental role in enabling on-time delivery of key mine debottlenecking projects inclusive of air, power, water, vent and paste fill.  Through integrating mine planning and project delivery schedules in a master schedule, the role will be integral to successfully achieving a ramped up production target. This position is based at Adelaide on a 5:2 roster with occasional site travel to Olympic Dam, flexible work arrangements are also available. In this role you will:  

  • Deliver a sustainable 3 month rolling infrastructure plan whilst monitoring and responding to compliance to plan, maintaining a focus on critical path dependencies;
  • Deliver a 1 Month to 5 Year levelled infrastructure plan with regular quarterly forecast updates ensuring compliance to budget and capital deliverables;
  • Identify and solve for mine area infrastructure capacity inputs to inform the mine plan;
  • Lead problem solving activities to overcome mine and project variability;
  • Develop and deliver opportunities to step-change project delivery;
  • Lead cross-departmental project controls;
  • Be a safety leader, demonstrating your commitment to health, safety and environmental responsibility ;
  • Liaise with Projects sub-functions to drive mine infrastructure deliverables and solve for operational business risk to plan;
  • Challenge and review planning inputs to be used during Forecast/ Budget;
  • Provide feedback to Scheduling and Engineering functions to improve future execution plans, designs, schedules and forecasts;
  • Build and maintain close working relationship with Engineering and Projects sub-functions; and
  • Deliver monthly reporting to the asset lead team.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally possess the following:

  • Mining Engineering degree or similar ;
  • Project management experience will be advantageous;
  • Minimum 5+ years mining experience and detailed understanding of the underground mining cycle;
  • Experience in sub level open stoping mining method will be advantageous;
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with a proven ability to influence and mentor others;
  • Previous scheduling and project delivery experience;
  • Experience using Microsoft Office suite, Deswik Suite including Deswik Sched.;
  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma and Theory of Constraints will be advantageous;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the practical application of Critical Chain Project Management; and
  • Ability to work collaboratively across different work groups and proactively engage with a range of stakeholders including senior levels of management.
