About the Site
Come join the largest autonomous fleet on any coal mine site in the world. Goonyella is one of five metallurgical coal mines in Queensland's Bowen Basin Portfolio for BHP. The Goonyella mine is an open pit coal mine located near Moranbah in Queensland's Bowen Basin on the traditional lands of the Barada Barna people.
Goonyella employees have the option of living are residentially with accommodation arrangements in Moranbah or camp facilities for our DIDO/FIFO employees.
About the Role
Reporting to the Mine Planning Superintendent, as the Lead Mining Engineer, you will be responsible for coaching and moulding your team to providing clear direction to the execution teams through mine designs and schedules for the 0 to 12 week time frame. This is role is offered on a 4/3 work pattern with FIFO/DIDO or residential living arrangement to suit your lifestyle. It is essential that the successful candidate can demonstrate that they are a team player and can align themselves to our teams purpose of "Better planning Better Performance". In this role you will:
- Use your leadership skills to coach and mould mining engineers;
- Communicate the designs to Production Coordinators and Operations;
- Identify and implement Production Planning improvement initiatives;
- Utilise tools in mine planning to ensure safe operations;
- Build cross-functional relationship with the Operational sub-functions and interact extensively with the Planning sub-functions.
About You
As the successful candidate, you will have a tertiary education background in Mining Engineering (or Civil) with previous experience working at an operations level with 5-10 years of experience working in mine planning teams. As well as your strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will have demonstrated ability to build relationships across departments and able to communicate at all levels. A strong working knowledge of design tools (Deswik/Vulcan), SPRY, Microsoft Office, Xact software packages are desirable. You will also be a performance and achievement oriented professional, who is motivated by exceeding expectations and providing excellent results.
