About the Role

Provides leadership to health and safety team focussed on the strategic management of health, hygiene, safety, and HSE assurance related issues, processes, provisions and initiatives across New South Wales Energy Coal (NSWEC). Coaches and develops team members  and operational team leaders to deliver high performance.

  • Manages, improves and provides expertise on safety risk management practices to improve organizational safety outcomes and performance.  
  • Responds to, manages and provides specialist/functional expertise on health related risks to uplift organizational capability in health management.  
  • Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems. Makes evidence based and strategic decisions in alignment with longer term business objectives.  
  • Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes.  
  • Gains support for and negotiates outcomes that achieve mutually beneficial goals.  
  • Applies an understanding of the business context, BHP operating model and ways of working to enhance decision making, productivity and value chain performance.  
  • Engages the capabilities of the entire organization.  
  • Strives to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste.  
  • Knows our customer and is obsessed with meeting their needs.  

About You

  • Formal qualifications in health and safety
  • Experience leading a team
