ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent position on a DIDO from our Worsley Alumina Refinery, which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (45 minutes and other nearby scenic communities OR in our Perth office, depending on the candidate’s preference. The role requires to travel to Perth to interact with engineering vendors and suppliers or to the Worsley refinery to engage site stakeholders.
As the Lead Process Engineer, you will be responsible for leading a team of process discipline engineers across a range of Major Projects globally for South32. The role requires the application of technical and project practices, along with critical and strategic thinking to ensure study business cases and scopes are technically fit-for-purpose.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Manage Major Projects Studies discipline Process Engineering department to support the portfolio of Major Projects.
- Deliver a portfolio of engineering and design works by evaluating and partnering with Engineering Service Providers (ESP) through the life cycle of the projects.
- Provide governance for company technical engineering standards and compliance of ESP designs.
- Oversee the design activities, inclusive of Safety in Design activities, to ensure a fit-for-purpose, safe, constructable and operational plant meeting stakeholder requirements.
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Several years of experience in a leadership role in heavy industry or relevant alternative experience
- Must have Hydrometallurgy experience
- Experience in development of project and engineering deliverables
- Exposure to operating facilities and mines or other major industrial undertakings
- Ability to facilitate teamwork and promote collaboration within an organisation
Qualifications for this position are:
- Relevant degree or extensive demonstrated experience (Process/Chemical/Metallurgy Engineering, or Chemistry)
