About the Role

As the Lead Project Controls & Analysis you will provide leadership and direction through coordination and prioritisation of resources and activities allowing for safe and successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of capital projects. This includes ensuring appropriate controls are in place and providing key insights through the development, collation and analysis of cost and schedule information to allow for effective and timely decision making.   

Reporting to Manager Project Services, your accountabilities include:

  • Ensure conformance with the BHP Charter, Code of Conduct, Our Requirements, MAP Internal Standard and relevant standards and procedures.
  • Establish and/or oversee the implementation of Project Controls & Analysis strategies, plans, controls, processes, methodologies and systems.
  • Provide leadership and operational management of resources within the team. 
  • Lead, coach, and mentor team members to develop team capability (including development plans, performance discussions, etc.) 
  • Review and analyse Project Controls & Analysis data and reports, supporting the Project / Study Leadership to assist in achieving on-time and on-budget delivery of the portfolio projects.
  • Lead the identification and implementation of improvement initiatives, including programmatic opportunities for increased capital efficiency and productivity.
  • Facilitate assurance practices to ensure Project Controls & Analysis deliverables are planned and executed to a high quality.
  • Collaborate on delivering business planning and governance requirements.

About You

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

  • Undergraduate qualifications in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business (Finance or Accounting Major) or a related field.
  • Extensive practical experience in a project environment focussed both on Study and Delivery of large-scale green and brownfield projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with Project Controls systems & techniques.
  • Ability to influence, engage with and communicate effectively across multiple business units and functional areas.
  • Demonstrated confidence to lead by example, holding yourself and others accountable.
  • Broad understanding of principles and governance in Project Controls including sub-functions of planning and scheduling, estimating, cost, change management and data analysis / improvement.

Location and Roster

This role is based in Adelaide on a Monday-Friday roster, offering a quality standard of living without the high costs of most other Australian capital cities. Adelaide offers a Mediterranean climate, beach-side lifestyle, cosmopolitan cafés and restaurants and world-class wine regions just an hour away.  All this plus an annual international festivals and events calendar make Adelaide a vibrant, cultured, friendly environment to live, work and play in.

This role will also involve some site travel as required.
