About the Role
We are recruiting for an exciting people leader role within the Western Australian Asset Projects – Projects Control & Analysis (PC&A) team. The role purpose is to lead a team focussed on the provision of project controls (e.g. cost engineering, planning and scheduling, budgeting, change management, progress measurement and forecasting) to influence the on-time and on-budget delivery of project objectives. Coaching and developing team members to deliver high performance is also a critical component of this role.Reporting to the Manager Project Controls & Analysis, you will be a proactive and safety focused individual ready to engage and lead a high performing team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Explores and iteratively reassesses best fit solutions, takes ownership of project decisions and outcomes and monitors and manages impacts to value across the project lifecycle (e.g. social, environmental, commercial).
- Conducts benchmarking, implements prioritisation methodologies and identifies key investment drivers to effectively manage key requirements across the portfolio.
- Defines project objectives/schedules, identifies critical activities, monitors the project plan/schedule and drives continuous improvement initiatives across projects at BHP.
- Develops, predicts/forecasts and benchmarks project costs and estimates in line with industry standards, principles and practices.
- Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems.
- Mitigates people, community, human rights and modern slavery, environmental and climate risks across the value chain, in alignment with public policy and our sustainability and climate commitments.
- Identifies, engages and manages a range of diverse internal and external stakeholders.
- Engages the capabilities of the entire organisation.
- Strives to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste.

About You
As the successful applicant you will be able to demonstrate the following:
- Demonstrated experience in a technical and people leading role.
- Proven experience in a Project Controls subject matter expert role, ideally within mining or capital projects
- Strong expertise in project cost control and cost systems.
- A track record of delivering value through effective project controls leadership
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business (Finance/Accounting), Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and influencing skills.
- A solid understanding of project and portfolio risks, interdependencies, and critical paths.
Location
The role is based in the Australian corporate office in Perth. You will be working on a Monday to Friday roster with a 3-2-1 arrangement - three days from the office, two days from home, and one of the office days must be a Monday or Friday.
