About the Role

The Lead Electrical Engineer will report to the Fixed Plant Reliability Superintendent and will lead a team of Electrical Engineers and technical specialists to provide technical support focusing on defect elimination process and drive improvement initiatives to support safe and reliable fixed plant operations.

You will have a strong desire to coach and lead a team. Establishing and maintaining relationships with the fixed plant maintenance, production and engineering teams will be critical to ensure success in this role This position is based at Newman and can be offered as a 5/2, 4/3FIFO or 5/2 Residential roster. 

In this role you will:

  • Demonstrate strong safety values by supporting the field leadership program to lead continuous safety improvement and performance
  • Lead and champion reliability principles and defect elimination processes to ensure maintenance strategies are continuously improved and equipment run-time is maximised
  • Lead, coach, and mentor team of Engineers & specialists and set direction and expectations for the team and develop high performing teams
  • Work collaboratively with both internal and external stakeholders to drive equipment and maintenance performance outcomes
  • Responsible as a control owner in identified risk area to support compliance and adherence to the risk framework  
  • Support development of operational and capital project budgets for fixed plant maintenance

About You

  • You will have a tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Extensive maintenance and engineering experience in the mining industry
  • A high commitment to safety, quality, attention to detail and procedures
  • Experience in Reliability centred maintenance methods and techniques or experience in similar Engineering roles
  • Experience in control systems/PLC coding will be beneficial
  • Sound understanding of the Mines Regulations associated with fixed plant maintenance including site electrical infrastructure
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to drive and influence teams
  • Strong understanding of defect elimination and Root cause Analysis methodology is preferred
  • Proficiency in 1SAP maintenance module preferable.
