Lead Reliability Engineer

Macmahon is seeking a proactive Lead Reliability Engineer to join the Reliability Team based in the Perth office within the Surface Mining Australia Operating Company. Reporting to the Group Manager – Assets and leading a team of Reliability Engineers this role is responsible for providing direct technical and maintenance engineering support for all sites and central maintenance activities

About the role

• Provide direct technical and maintenance engineering support for all sites and central maintenance activities
• Assist the site maintenance departments to make well informed decision and cost-effective solutions with minimal impact to production    
• Undertake failure analysis to determine root cause and proactively implement regimes to improve initiative to prevent reoccurrences
• Identify and develop, or where required, escalate to the OEM to provide engineering solutions to address repetitive failures, high downtime, labour or cost failures and other problems that adversely affect mobile plant performance.
• Undertake a leading role in the Defect Elimination Process, including developing a detailed understanding of the process and providing coaching and support to others in the completion of their roles within the process.
• Report and advise on Plant health issues.
• Ensure defect elimination Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations and actions are completed in a timely manner and with a high level of quality.
• Undertake a leading role in the 5 Why’s method deployment, including developing a detailed understanding of the process and providing coaching and support to others.
• Review current maintenance practices and procedures and identify areas for improving costs, efficiencies and productivity.
• Evaluate mobile equipment performance and the effectiveness of the processes and procedures designed to support their performance.
• Accurately track and analyse production losses and abnormally high maintenance cost assets events and feed opportunities for improvements into the Defect Elimination Process.
• Investigate failed parts and components and feed defects into the Defect Elimination Process, including expediting failure reports from OEM’s and capturing these activities on the Register.
• Display working knowledge of contractual KPI’s including key factors impacting on production and financial success.
• Participate in monthly cost reviews. 
• Review availability and repair time of plant meets agreed KPI’s. 
• Lead & Own SAP4 Hana Master Data Program Implementation

About you 

• Tertiary qualification in mechanical engineering 
• Relevant Australian recognised Trade Qualification in field of heavy equipment maintenance.
• Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
• SAP4 Hana Maintenance system experience
• Held a similar position in the mining industry at supervisory level or above
• Advanced interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience in project management
• Demonstrated high level of analytical ability, trouble shooting and negotiation skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills plus advanced level experience with computing systems – MS Excel

Desirable 

• Previous experience with equipment manufacturer product support
• Exposure to reporting analytics from equipment manufacturers 
• Exposure to Power BI & Analytical tools
