About the Role
As the Lead Procurement Site Engineering Projects WAIO, you will work collaboratively with other Procurement teams, the Site Engineering team and other Functions to successfully deliver projects. The successful candidate will demonstrate Charter Values through their leadership, manage a portfolio of projects and will lead a large, diverse team of contract professionals to deliver world class end to end contract management. You will also be an integral member of the WAIO Procurement leadership team.
You will be required to travel to company offices and sites as the project team requires.
Key accountabilities:
- Utilise historical and future project portfolio data to contribute to the development of Project Execution and Contracting Strategies to preserve and improve project portfolio value. While ensuring compliance with the BHP Charter, Code of Conduct, Our Requirements, Functional Level Requirements (FLRs) and relevant statutory obligations.
- Lead and influence the selection and implementation of contract models / pricing models.
- Understand local market conditions to meet individual project portfolio requirements.
- Ensure that market engagement is planned and executed through the procurement lifecycle to meet project schedule, quality and cost objectives.
- Manage Supplier Relationship Management while working collaboratively with projects and cross functional stakeholders to foster deeper relationships with all supply chain partners.
- Lead the pursuit of projects, operational and commercial excellence through continuous improvement.
- Apply sound commercial judgement around application of contractual terms and conditions.
About You
Ideally, you will hold a tertiary qualification (Quantity Surveying/procurement, engineering, business, law is preferred) or similar with experience within the mining and mineral resources industry. Previous experience within the mining industry including port and rail, will be highly regarded. Alternatively, you will have experience within engineering/technical consultancies or construction, with a demonstrated understanding of project delivery.
You will have the opportunity to utilise your advanced engagement and collaboration skills in managing stakeholder relationships. Likewise, you will have excellent interpersonal skills and a high standard of oral and written communication skills.
You will also possess the following:
- Experience in applying your strengths in analysis and problem solving in order to develop business solutions
- Proven experience in managing a large team, achieving exceptional goals
- Understands the similarities and differences of various project delivery models
- Have a deep understanding of the role of Procurement and each contributing function (Legal, Supply HR/IR, Engineering, HSE, Finance)
