Lead Solar PV Engineer

Work location: Perth

Roster: Monday to Friday

The role of the Lead Solar PV Engineer is to manage a team of Solar PV engineers to be a centre of technical excellence for Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) Solar PV Power Projects under evaluation, development, construction, and operation.

Key responsibilities:

  • Solar PV plant site identification, assessment, and evaluation
  • Resource monitoring and resource data assessment
  • Solar PV plant design and technology selection
  • Plant generation and power profile forecasts
  • Solar PV plant component technology (e.g. Panels, Tracker system, Inverter)
  • Solar PV Engineering procedures, specifications, standards, and processes.
  • Operational plant and equipment performance analysis
  • Act as Solar PV subject matter expert and provide engineering peer review support
  • Design accountability and assurance,
  • Legislation and regulatory compliance,
  • Risk assessment and mitigation,
  • Equipment / services scope of works and procurement
  • Plant construction support
  • Performance testing of Solar PV main components
  • Plant operation and maintenance support
  • Communicate and engage with project stakeholders
  • Support ongoing improvement of FFI internal Solar PV power project standards and procedures in relation to all relevant aspects of the development, construction, and operation.
  • Provide value-adding engineering to internal and external stakeholders as required.

Qualifications and skills required:

  • Tertiary Engineering Qualification (Electrical)
  • Considerable years experience in Solar PV power plant engineering and design
  • In depth expert knowledge of Solar PV component technology, project and solar resource evaluation, design methodologies and engineering techniques, tool and resources.
  • High level evaluation and analysis skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
