In support of Fortescue’s strong focus on green energy and our carbon neutrality targets, one of our key initiatives will be in our Green Fleet projects whereby we will develop and test a range of technologies to power our mining fleet
FFI are currently looking for a Lead Vehicle Integration Engineer who will take full responsibility for all vehicle package & development activities.
They will have an excellent understanding of the design, engineering and application for all vehicle systems. Particular expertise within a chassis discipline (suspension, steering, brakes, etc) and/or occupant packaging & full vehicle certification would be beneficial.
They will lead all vehicle integration activities from initial concept through to project completion.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Working with discreet project teams to undertake a wide range of concept layout, vehicle integration & design projects for a broad customer base.
- The engineer will be responsible for complete vehicle integration activities & therefore should have a wide knowledge in all vehicle systems, particularly Chassis systems.
- Developing solutions that are suitable for volume production and are capable of integration into full vehicle programmes.
- Be responsible for understanding customer requirements, generating project scope and system specifications and for taking engineering designs from concept through to manufacture.
- The engineer will manage the project according to customers cost and timing requirements.
- Run design reviews to present design ideas and to discuss and critique alternative design solutions, both internally & externally
- Work closely with purchasing and production departments to ensure cost and manufacturing capability.
- Assist in generating and presenting project material.
- Problem solving and fault rectification.
Qualifications and skills required:
- A Degree in mechanical, automotive, electrical or aerospace engineering.
- Experience of mechanical design in either the automotive or the motorsport industry.
- Working knowledge of Siemens NX 11, TeamCentre or CATIA V5 would be an advantage.
- Good working knowledge of proprietary PC software e.g. MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
- Experience in chassis system design or packaging, such as body, suspension, steering or brakes
- Some knowledge of lightweight design and composite structures would be beneficial.
- Some knowledge of occupant packaging & vehicle certification/homologation would be beneficial.
- Some knowledge of electric vehicles and electrified powertrains would be beneficial.
- Demonstrate ability to manage your own workload and projects.
- Ability to maintain high standards of staff and department presentation, as appropriate for a facility visited by potential customers and other VIP’s.
