About the Role
We are building a talent pool of experienced Blast Superintendents to support future opportunities within our operations. Reporting to the Production leadership team, this role plays a key part in coordinating drill and blast activities to achieve safe, efficient, and high-quality production outcomes. You’ll work closely with a skilled and supportive team, contributing to the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of blast activities on site.
In this role, you will:
- Lead and support blast crews to deliver safe, compliant, and effective outcomes
- Oversee drill and blast activities including preparation, timing, QA/QC, and execution
- Collaborate with engineers, technical specialists, and production teams to meet operational targets
- Contribute to a culture that prioritises safety, teamwork, continuous improvement, and clear communication
- Support training, coaching, and development of team members
- Champion inclusive and respectful ways of working

About You
You bring a steady, level-headed approach on site, with strong communication and a clear focus on your people. You’re hands-on, solutions-focused, and comfortable planning ahead to keep work running safely and efficiently. With solid technical experience in drill and blast, you’re confident leading from the front and supporting your team through changing conditions, operational challenges, and day-to-day demands.
To be successful, you will have:
- Relevant mining qualifications and statutory competencies (e.g. S123, G2)
- Shotfirer accreditation / Queensland Shotfirer Tickets
- Previous supervisory experience within a Drill & Blast or blasting operations team on a coal mine site
- Strong knowledge of drill & blast planning, field operations and safety processes
- The ability to build trusting relationships and support others to perform at their best
- A calm, inclusive and proactive approach to decision-making
- A commitment to maintaining a positive safety culture and high operational standards
